Kickstarter Note: Why back this new product?

1. The games have already been printed: The product is ready to begin fulfillment once the project funds.

2. Expense: We have all watched the cost of card games grow over the decades. This edition of Crypt was designed to keep costs very low. Very low. Don’t get us wrong, we do have expensive boosters, yet all you need to play forever is priced under $17 USD. With one aspect purchased once per player, The Starter Pack.

3. Innovation: There is no other game like it. As the first Trading Board Game or TBG, Crypt has always captured the excitement of board, and card games, with a dash of role-playing. It immerses the player, with its ever-changing dungeon crawl experience, and engages through the robust card play. The character cards themselves control the deck, and the effect of the hex board pieces, completing the game’s “circle of mechanics.”

4. Customization: Each player selects the Hex board pieces that help their character or even the owner, and harm adversaries. These pieces are drawn randomly to build a unique game every time. A game board where each player has contributed to the excitement.

5. Inclusion: Crypt is for everybody. Players are never “out-of-the-game”. Even if defeated, a player controls the traps and dominates monsters with which they can capture the key and still emerge victorious! Easy to learn and hard to master, this hybrid game captures the best of it all.

Art disclosure: At our small company, we strive to create engaging and visually captivating games, but we also face the challenges that come with having a modest budget. In our previous edition of Crypt, back in 2000, we received feedback that highlighted a significant concern: while the hex back, card back, characters, and hexes were beautifully illustrated, the actual cards themselves lacked illustrations. This issue became our number one complaint among players, and we took it to heart.

As a result, we're excited to clarify our approach towards the art used in our games. We are aware of the importance of high-quality artwork in enhancing the gaming experience, but the production costs for illustrations can be quite steep, typically ranging from $500 to $1,000 per art piece. This financial constraint limited the scope of the illustrations we were able to include.

To bridge this gap, we have incorporated AI-generated components in some of our new game elements. However, we must emphasize that while we utilize AI tools for generating concepts and initial designs, the final product is crafted and refined by a skilled human artist. We believe this collaborative process not only respects artistic integrity but also allows us to manage costs effectively without compromising on quality.

We hope this insight into our art production process helps to clarify our usage of art and demonstrates our commitment to providing a richer gaming experience in future editions. Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to improve and evolve as a company.
